Northern Ireland’s three-time World Superbikes champion Jonathan Rea has been named runner-up at this year’s Sports Personality of the Year awards.
The BBC SPOTY awards were held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Sunday evening.
The Ballyclare rider, who was recently honoured with an MBE, made history when he became the first competitor to win three WSBK titles back-to-back.
He was pipped to the post for the top SPOTY title by four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah, while Para-athlete Jonnie Peacock came third.
Rea said he was "humbled" by his award.
There was also more Northern Ireland success, with Stephen Maguire sharing in the Coach of the Year trophy.
The Strabane man, along with Benke Blomkvist and Christian Malcolm, was honoured for being behind the success of GB's sprinters.
